Brake Tester RC02A Remote Repair Details
This remote arrived well packaged, first inspection showed thath te battery cover was missing a corner and the remote was held together by tape (this is quite common with garage remotes), we cannot repair cosmetic damage as parts are not available, this does not effect the functionality of the item.
The remote was not functioning at all and upon opening the handset the reason was made apparent. The electrolytic capacitor at the top end of the remote had a leg detached (see image below), the wire had broken in the middle which is usually due physical damage from the user (usually by it being dropped).
This was re-soldered and partial functionality was restored, there was however another problem. The battery compartment was missing 2 holding pins (again probably broken off due to it being dropped). This is used to hold the battery firmly against the terminals. Without these pins then the handset would be erratic. A custom made holding plate was fitted inside the compartment to eradicate this issue (See image below) and full functionality was restored - See testing video!
