Kenwood RC-28 Remote Repair Details
This kenwood RC28 remote arrived safely, on intial inspection it was noted that the battery cover is missing, this cannot be replaced and doesnt effect functionality.
The buttons were very erratic and upon opening the handset it was made clear as to the reason why. There was a yellow conductive pain on every button of the rubber pad (usually an indication that someone had repaired the remote in the past). The paint had oxidised and partially coated the PCB contacts over the power button (hence the reason only the power button was working)
The solution was to clean off all foreign substance from the PCB and remove the paint from the pads. Then once the pads were cleaned off they were tested for conductivity and the volume down button was shown to be non conducting, this was resurfaced with the proper silver conductive solution and full functionality was restored (see testing video)
