Customer's Fault Description
Although remote red light illuminates it does not switch on the fire. Batteries in receiver box have been renewed but still no switching operation. A new fully charged battery in the remote seems to activate the operation but only a few times. Remote has had three new batteries in six weeks. The details supplied are as those discussed on the telephone with you.
This remote and receiver arrived safely and initial test showed that they were both functioning, after a few minutes though the functionality ceased. Testing indicated that it was the handset that was ceasing operation.
Upon opening the remote the problem became apparent. On the main ic situated at the top of the remote there was signs of corrosive contamination around all of the pins (see image below).
This was removed by giving it an alcohol scrub and rinse, once dried testing was carried out over an hour period and the remote functioned normally.
