sony RM-LP211 Remote Repair Details

Customers Fault Description : Everything works apart from the central easy select barrel key. This will not work at all, cannot move the cursor on the screen or select anything.
This Sony remote arrived safely and appeared to be functioning on all buttons except the "spindle / select" button as per the customers fault description.
Upon opening the battery compartment there was some signs of an old battery spilage as the terminal was corroded.
This spileage had no bled through to the PCB but there were signs of the coroded "rust" within the remote, especially around the large main IC.
The erronious button was electronically tested and was foud to be functioning which sadly has led to the conclusion that the problem is indeed with the main IC itself which is not available as a spare. Sadly this has meant that this repair is not possible.
No charge is required for the service (only the return postage is needed if the remote is to be returned)
