This Linn Audio system remote arrived safely and was found to be totally dead.

Upon opening the handset the problem became apparent.  The main I.C. had "crept" out of its base (see image below) which was caising the connections to become intermittent and eventually totally open circuit.

 

This was remedied by refitting the IC securely.  Full functionality was restored.
