Customer's Fault Description
The remote doesn't appear to work at all.

 

This Onkyo remote arrived safely and initial testing confirmed the customers fault diagnosis of no functionality at all.

Upon opening the remote there was an instant diagnosis.  The main IC showed signs of over heating and damage, this was noticed by the black resin that encased the IC was bubbled and had a smell of electric burning from the past.

To double check a full component and continuity check was carried out on the rest of the PCB and no other problem was found.

As the IC is encased in resin there is no way to find out what the identity of the chip is which has sadly rendered this remote beyond repair.

 

There is no service charge and only the return postage is require if the remote is to be returned to the customer.
