THE REMOTE IS WORKING FINE BUT THE RECEIVER IS INTERMITTENT. THE RECEIVER WILL WORK IF HELD FACING DOWNWARDS OR IF A VACUUM CLEANER IS HELD TO THE FACE OF IT.

 

This fireplace remote and receiver arrived safely. Initial testing showed that the remote was illuminating when a button press was activated but it was not sending any ultrasonic transmission on either the up or down channel.

This was a due to a faulty ultra sonic transducer in the handset itself.

A replacement was fitted and full functionality was restored.

Please note that the reason the receiver would illuminate when a vacuum was placed near it is simply that it can pick up ultrasonic signals from other electrical devices in close proximity.
