Customer's Fault Description
Black wire to connect to battery has snapped.

 

This remote arrived with a very badly damaged packaging (was sent in a paper envelope that was ripped open)  inside the package was the remote itself.

 

First inspection confirmed that the battery cable was disconnected and therefore no power could be attached to the handset, the remedy was to replace the entire battery clip, this was done and full functionality was restored.
