Kal Fire Remote Repair Details
This KalFire remote arrived safely from Spain.
First inspection showed that one of the battery terminals was showing signs of corrosion due to a battery leakage. This leakage had spread inside the handset.
Parts of the print were missing their non conductive coating due to the acid leak eating through the print. Continuity checks found that the copper was ok. The corroded battery terminal was removed and alcohol soaked and also the print under the terminal was cleaned off as there was quite a large sum of crystal formation from the leakage. When the terminal was replaced the remote still did not fire up. It appears that the leakage has caused damage to the main large processor (a few of the pins show signs of errosion).
Sadly this processor is not available as a spare which has rendered this repair not possible.
