Think batteries may have been wet inside the remote

 

This remote arrived well packaged and on powering up was found to be totally dead (no led or infra red)

upon opening the remote there was some contamination found around the main I.C.. This was remote by giving the PCB an alcohol bath and full functionality was restored.
