Only works intermittant, now doesnt work at all

 

This Sun remote control arrived well packaged.  When a power source was fitted the remote remain non functioning.

 Upon opening the problem was visible straight away.  There was contamination around a few of the buttons.  This was cleaned up with alcohol and the rubber pads washed to remove any further contamination.

This did restore functionality to the handset and it did then emit an infra red signal but the visible red led was not illuminating, this was replaced (with a green led) and this problem was resolved.
