Customer's Fault Description
Buttons light up permanently; no 'reaction' by amplifier; something rattling inside.

 

This Onkyo remote control arrived safely.  On first inspection there was a rattle sound from the inside of the remote.  When a power source was added the handset was transmitting permanently and was illuminated all the time.

When the remote was opened the rattle was found to be a loose piece of plastic that was floating around the board, also found inside was a human hair which meant that the handset had either been opened before or the hair was inside since manufacture.

The problem was found to be a short across a couple of the button array, this was cleaned off and normal functionality was restored.
