The On/Off button only works after a repeated number,6 or 8, of tries

 

This remote arrived safely and on adding batteries was confirmed to be "sluggish" when using the off button.

When the handset was opened the reason became apparent, their was a small amount of liquid spillage over the button array that was worse over the off button, this was cleaned off with some alcohol and full functionality was restored.
