Only works when 6 inches from fire

 

This remote and receiver arrived safely and upon testing the handset itself was found to be working fine.

A closer inspection to the receiver was carried out and it was noticed that the ultrasonic receivers mesh casing was indented and pressing on the center cone.  This was causing intermittent and weak signal recognition.

This was replaced and full functionality was restored.
