Remote not working, at first intermittent now completely, tried new batteries and cleaning it but still not working

 

This Sony handset arrived safely.  On adding a power source no function at all could be seen.

Upon opening the remote there was a dry contamination around the main I.C. which had been their a while as it had eaten through parts of the copper tracks around the chip.

The contamination was cleaned up and the print was reworked with conductive paint and full functionality was restored.
