This Verine fireplace remote arrived safely and on initial inspection it was noticed that the battery cable was faulty.  This was replaced and the remote powered up, then the buttons were found to be not conducting, this is quite a common problem and the remedy was to replace all four of the buttons.

 

Full functionality was restored.
