Customer's Fault Description
The switch on the remote to turn the fire up doesn't appear to work. You would normally press two separate buttons on the remote to turn fire up. There is the exact same remote visible on your website. The switch to turn the fire down does work and registers a red light on the remote and on the unit located in the fire.
This Mertik handset arrived safely and on powering it was confirmed that the combination press for the up channel had no effect at all (did not illuminate the LED or send an ultrasonic signal). The down button did work as expected.
When the controller was opened the problem was visible straight away, there was some contamination around the up button which had crystalized around the contacts. The button itself was replaced and contamination cleaned away and full functionality was restored.
