Red power light on the remote flickers for approx 1 or 2 seconds ( new 9v battery ) and none of the buttons work !

 

This Vibradorm bed remote arrived safely, first inspection showed that one of the battery terminals was bent upwards (this doesnt effect functionality but care must be taken whenever removing a battery so as not to break the terminal)

On adding a power source the remote simply lit up for a couple of seconds and then died, no functions were available from any button press.

On opening the remote the problem was found to be one of 3 things, the button array had a slight contamination on it, the crystal oscillator was dry jointed and also the IR led's were dry jointed.  All of these things were repaired and full functionality was restored (see testing video)
