This Hoffman remote control arrived safely, there was a battery included.  The battery compartment was held on by tape and there was no fixing screw for the case (these are cosmetic things that we cannot repair but do not effect functionality)

Upon testing the remote there was no infra red being emitted on any button press.  When the handset was opened the reason was clean, on of the pins of the crystal oscillator had broken.  A replacement crystal was fitted and functionality was restored.  Please note that the red led indicator does not illuminate but this does not effect functionality of the remote.
