Remote was dropped and stopped working at all.

 

This Sony remote arrived safely, on testing there was no infra red signal detected on any button press.  Upon opening the handset the problem was clear, the battery terminals had become bent (possibly due to the drop).

 

The solution was to bend the terminals back into place and also a solder support was added for extra strength.  Full functionality was restored.
