remote not responding at all. No lights. Battery change has no effect. Air con unit still responds to my apare remote

 

This controller arrived safely and on adding a power source was found to not be transmitting an IR signal

On opening the handset it was noticed that there was some contamination on some of the button pad contacts this was cleaned up but still no signal was being produced.  A component test revealed that  there was an OC resistor.  This was replaced and the control then was found to be transmitting, the red indicator led however does not illuminate.  The red led problem is due to a faulty IC which is not available as a spare, this does not effect the control functions.
