Customer's Fault Description
Remote not working, stopped working suddenly

 

 This Sony remote arrived safely and was found to be non transmitting on anybutton press.

On opening the device there was notice some contamination around one of the ICs.  This was cleaned up but the problem remained.  A component check revealed that the Infra Red LED was open circuit.  This was replaced and then full functionality was restored.
