Only communicates between Receiver and Transmitter when held in specific position about 10 mm apart

 

This fire remote and receiver arrived safely with batteries included.  On testing it was confirmed that the remote itself had a very limited range (less than 1cm).

 

This is a common issue which is caused by a faulty ultrasonic transducer in the handset itself.  A replacement was fitted and full functionality was restored.
