I read the description of your Yamaha Remote Repair. I think it will be exactly the same deal for you - the batteries ran out but weren't replaced and they leaked out. Cleaned (not thoroughly but well enough) and issue remains. I don't want to open it up myself and replacements are eye-wateringly expensive if available at all!
This Yamaha soundbar control arrived safely, on initial inspection the battery compartment was not fixing properly due to broken fixing lugs (this cannot be replaced) and on testing was found to not be transmitting on any button press.
On opening the problem was clear, the leakage had traversed onto the main PCB and had corroded part of the button array (see image)
The contamination was removed and the print reworked, full functionality was restored.
