2 problems 1 The contacts for the battery have become worn so fail regularly 2 The button section on the circuit board has lifted allowing debris in which seems to prevent the buttons working correctly

 

This garage door control arrived safely and on inspection was found to have a number of issues, the first 2 issues were as noted by the customer whereby the contacts were showing signs of tarnish, the other issue was that all 3 of the solder joints on the battery block were cracked, making conductivity intermittent.  The batery compartment was resoldered and the contacts etched back and full functionality was restored.
