The remote went through a wash cycle, hasn't worked since.

 

This Samsung remote arrived safely and on testing was confirmed not to be responding.  On opening there was signs f corrosion around the ribbon cables that join the 2 separate PCBs, due to the amount of corrosion a repair has been not possible.
