some of the buttons started to fail like the volume and then the surround buttons. but now it does not work at all.

 

This Bose Lifestyle Unit was dropped off by the customer and on testing was found to have a strange "sluggish" button response on various buttons.

On opening there was a contamination over many of the button pads / pcb array (see image).  This was cleaned up which restored functionality but then it was also noticed that the battery terminals were lose when connecting to the main board meaning it was making the remote intermittent when moved around.

The terminals were fastened back into place and soldered to give extra stability.
