Remote will increase gas flow but not reduce and extinguish it.

 

This fireplace remote and receiver arrived safely and on testing was confirmed to have a faulty channel.  On inspection the battery block in the receiver had signs of corrosion and also the 40khz crystal was faulty, both were replaced and full functionality was restored.
