This Valor control arrived safely and on testing was found to actually be permanantly transmitting.

When opened there were a few issues, the oscillator and IR LED was replaced which are common issues on these controls and also the battery terminal was slightly corroded, the terminal was replated... none of these issues was the reason for the fault but was carried out as a precautionary measure.

The reason for the fault was some contamination over the button array which was shorting the contacts.  The board was given an alcohol bath and all contaminants were removed.  Full functionality was restored.
