Customer's Fault Description
Battery connector wire had broken. Soldered a new battery connector in and initially it worked fine. Now works intermittently, with a shake.

 

This mover handset arrived safely and on adding a battery was confirmed to be intermittent.

The battery cable was replaced and also the IC was found to have "creeped" away from its housing, this was firmly reattached.  The battery cable was also hot melted in place.
