This climate control arrived safely and on testing was confirmed to have a blank display albeit illuminated.

On opening the reason was found to be due to a bad battery leak / corrosion.  This corrosion had "eaten" through the display cable and also a large portion of the PCB. 

Due to the amount of damage a repair is not possible.
