The remote doesn't work even after changing batteries, the light doesn't work either

 

This motor mover control arrived safely and on testing was confirmed to be dead.

This was found to be due to a break in the print track and also 2 SMD transistors.  The transistors were replaced and the track repaired which restored full functionality.
