Customer's Fault Description
The black lead wire to the battery terminal has come loose and therefore the remote won’t work. It needs to be reattached / soldered back in place.

 

This fireplace control arrived safely and on inspection was confirmed to have a broken battery lead, a replacement was fitted which restored full functionality.
