Increase Flame (top right) and Pilot Light (bottom left) buttons not working

 

This fireplace controller arrived safely and on inspection the black wire of the battery terminal was broken (see image).

The battery cable was replaced and when tested no issue could be replicated with the buttons themselves.  The bottom left and top right buttons must be pressed at the same time, this is a safety feature to prevent accidental fire ignition / increase.
