Remote not functioning - would occasionally respond, but very intermittent. Tested using mobile phone camera, and no infrared single detected when not working.

This canton remote arrived safely and on testing was intermittent in operation, if the control was tapped it would work and then stop working.

This was found to be due to a cracked solder joint on the main IC.  The IC was resoldered which restored solid functionality.
