Seems to be a problem with fitting the battery or with the contacts

This music center controller arrived safely and on testing the battery compartment was slightly tight.  The device was opened and the casing cleaned.  Then the battery terminals were bent upwards to make a better contact with the inserted battery.

A replacement Duracell battery was fitted and full functionality was recorded.
