The remote is not working at all. Both buttons do not work. Infrared led is also not turning on

This fireplace controller arrived safely from the Netherlands and on testing was found to be intermittent.  When tapped the control would work and then not.

This is a common issue caused by faulty SMD capacitors that break at one end.  Both were replaced which restored full functionality.
