Customer's Fault Description
Remote turns on the light on the fire but no longer controls the heat. The fire appears to be working from pressing the buttons directly on the fire itself.

This Valor remote control arrived safely and on testing the "Heat" button was not transmitting, the others seemed to be working as normal.

On inspection one of the battery terminals had visible signs of a battery leakage, on opening the leak had traversed onto the main PCB and started to corrode the print (see image).

The board was cleaned up and the print reworked which restored full functionality.  The terminal was also cleaned and re-coated with conductive paint.
