Only works if the sender and receiver are millimetres away from each other.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This fireplace controller arrived safely with its receiver and on testing the remote was low on signal strength.  This was due to a faulty transducer in the handset itself.  This was replaced with a new transducer which restored full functionality.

No problem was found with the receiver.
