Customer's Fault Description
The directional down button has stopped working unless it is pressed really hard. Especially in relation to the up, left & right.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This Logitech controller arrived safely and on testing  was confirmed to have a sluggish / unresponsive down button.

This was due to wear on the facia which meant that the button had to be pressed very hard.  A replacement facia was ordered and fitted, normal functionality was restored.
