No light on remote just buzzing noise

This motor mover controller arrived safely and on inspection the battery cover was missing.

On adding a power source the control remained dead.  The battery cable was damaged, this was replaced but the issue remained.  The problem was then found to be due to a bad contact on the power switch.  The switch was cleaned up and full functionality was restored.
