Customer's Fault Description
There was a leak of battery acid from old batteries, it was only on the contacts and from what I could see, did not leak into the rest of the inside.<br />
I cleaned the contacts with white vinegar and replaced with new batteries but it didn't work (even tried the tinfoil on the contacts).<br />
Several weeks before the remote stopped working it was not communicating with the main system very well.<br />
Regardless of how low I set the temperature, the upstairs would keep heating up to 24.5 degrees.<br />
The remote display was constantly flashing then stopped communicating with the system altogether.<br />
The remote is 6 years old.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This remote arrived safely and on testing was confirmed dead.
On opening there was a mass of contamination left over from the battery leak (see image). This was cleaned up and the other terminals were also replaced as they were badly corroded.
