new batteries fitted but no response on any button

This garage door control arrived safely and initially on testing was found to be functioning as per normal operation, the item was check for any problems but no fault could be replicated.

It was put to one side for an hour and then retested before concluding its diagnosis.  The fault then made an appearance.  The button response was very intermittent and the LED would dim randomly as if the battery power was low. 

The remote we re-opened and the battery housing remove and then the issue was found.  The contacts under the battery housing were found to be heavily contaminated / corroded )see image below).

The contamination was removed and etched clean, this restored normal operation.
