Mertik Maxitrol Remote Repair Details

Manufacturer : Mertik Maxitrol

Customers Fault Description : Remote will turn on the flame to full but will not turn the flame off. The remote blinks on "Turn On" but does not blink on "Turn Off"

Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :

This fireplace control and receiver arrived safely from the United States and on testing the up channel would work but the down channel would not.

The remote was tested as working as normal even though the Ultrasonic Transducer cap was missing its outer shell (see image)

The Receiver was opened and sadly someone had covered the entire components side of the PCB with "bathroom silicone sealant (see image)", this makes a repair impossible as access to the components and circuit is impossible.  I'm not sure why anyone would put silicone sealant over a PCB for a fire as these are not required to be waterproof, this is not how these are manufactured and therefore has been done after manufacture for whatever reason, possible by the fireplace supplier / installer.
