This fireplace controller arrived safely and on inspection the battery cover was held on with tape (this cover cant be replaced as spares are not available)

On of the terminals was also found to be bent.  When tested the item was confirmed to be dead.  This was due to breaks in the print near the IR led (see image).  The print was reworked and the terminal replaced which restored full functionality.
