Customers Fault Description : DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, EITHER FOR THE FLAME EFFECT OR FOR THE HEATER. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERIES BUT THAT DOES NOT WORK.

This fireplace controller arrived safely and on testing was found to be dead.
On opening this was found to be due to contamination over the negative battery terminal (see image, possibly from a battery leak). The terminal was cleared of all contaminants which restored full functionality.
