This CD receiver remote arrived safely and on inspection the battery cover was held on with tape (this cover cant be replaced as spares are not available.

The battery terminals had signs of battery leak / corrosion.  The bad terminals were replaced and the others were cleaned and re-plated which restored full functionality.
