Electrical contacts corroded. Not been used for several years with battery left in.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This fire controller arrived safely and on inspection was confirmed to have a damaged battery clip, a replacement battery cable was fitted and it was then found that the buttons were faulty, all four button were replaced.  This restored full functionality.
