Mertik Maxitrol Wonderfire Airflame Excel MK.3 Remote Repair Details

Customers Fault Description : One of the control buttons has always needed excess pressure to activate the fire, however this has never seemed to be a major issue as it has been this way for last few years. HOWEVER, now and this may not be related to the button situation but I am reporting it in case it is significant. The issue is that the remote randomly activates turns on the fire without any operator action i.e. it has been observed to turn on the fire whilst the remote was untouched sitting on the table - the little red light comes on the remote and stays on. Battery had to be removed from the remote for safety, as it has turned on the fire whilst we have been out of the house! We have tried new batteries in both the remote and the fire. Fault is intermittent, but because of the safety issue of random activation turning on the fire, we can no longer use the remote for control of the gas fire - even hiding the remote in a drawer, does not always stop the remote signal turning on the fire.
Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :
This remote arrived safely and on testing was found to have a resistance across the up button and also the down button was sluggish in response.
Both button were replaced which restored full functionality.
The customer was asked about the receiver and revealed that a battery leak has happened in the past, our recommendation whenever any of these receivers have battery leaks is to replace the receiver as a precaution, these can be found here - https://ebay.us/6Zptoe
