Customer's Fault Description
Remote has an intermittent problem where the red light on the unit fails to work. However, if I leave the unit for a short while it works, but not all of the time. Luckily the fire has a manual override to switch it off.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This remote arrived safely and on testing was found to be functioning but only for a few seconds before becoming dead.
On opening there was signs of some contamination around the LED (See image). This was cleared up but the issue remained.
It was eventually concluded that the issue is with the main IC which sadly makes a repair not possible.
Replacement remotes can be found on eBay but please remember to contact the seller for compatibility with your receiver.
